Střední odborná škola technická Uherské Hradiště is a state school with specialisation for technical branches in civil engineering, wood industry and mechanical engineering.

Characteristics of branches

In the special school the branch of civil engineering is being taught. Lessons are connected with practical learning and the teachers have rich practical experince. Student must go through a fortnight practice two times during their studies. During school years they work on concrete projects for civil engineering firms and organisations. They are asked to work on a high level of processing, especially the quality of project documentation is valued. Good knowledge and skills of our students make further study in faculties and universities possible.

The apprentice school prepares for work in wood industry, that is in two branches. Applicants can choose from a 4-year branch of wood and furniture production processor with the school leaving exam or a 3-year vocational branch of cabinet maker – furniture production. Nowadays students are interested mostly in the branch with the final exam.

Mechanical engineering branches have a long tradition at our school. With the development of mechanical engineering in our region and with the development of new information, communication and CNC technologies in mechanical engineering the interest in these branches has been renewed. On this basis a new 4-year branch of CNC-mechanic with the final exam has been opened. The other two apprentice branches of locksmith and car mechanic are 3-year ones. Car mechanics get automatically driving group C licence at the end of their study.

Apprentices of higher classes have practical training at private firms prepared with the help of agreements. Mostly it is bringing up of their future employees. This system helps significantly to lower the unemployment of our graduates.

Lessons

The theoretical teaching takes place in 16 classrooms and 3 special classrooms (one for foreign languages and two classrooms with total 30 computers with internet and graphical programs). Both students and all the employees of our school have computers at their disposal all day long.

Vocational preparation goes through not only in our own workshops but also in the work place in Staré Město.

School area

The school area is located in quiet outskirts of the town of Uherské Hradiště on the embankment of the Morava River. It consists of the school building, students residence, sports hall, tennis court, and sport stadium. The school atrium with benches is intended for relaxation.

Accomodation

The students residence next to our school provides thanks to its capacity the accomodation not only to our own students, but also students from other schools in our town. During the holidays free rooms are being used as the accomodation for the public ( they are mostly sportsmen and traditionally the participants of Summer Film School).

Catering

Our own school canteen in the building of the students residence ensures all-day catering. Ordering and handing out of meals is organized with the help of chips.

Sport possibilities

The spacy hall with the equipment for basketball, volleyball, gymnastics etc. and the fitness centre is at our students and school employees disposal for their active rest. Next to our school buildings are: a tennis court, an asphalt play ground, a stadium for light athletics and a football play ground.
